CIM Shines at ACI NJ Meeting

It was one of the nights I will never forget, especially when part of the audiences kept chanting and shouting “CIM..CIM..CIM!!!”. Ten CIM students showed up at the NJ ACI Chapter Dinner tonight which took place at NJIT Atrium. I, Mohamed Mahgoub, the CIM program director, gave a presentation showing all the recent CIM program activities. After the presentation, I have been approached by several companies offering our CIM students several job opportunities. CIM students did a great effort putting up the CIM and ACI Student Chapter Banners and distributing the CIM Brochures. Besides, Antonio Gallotta, a CIM senior student, had a wonderful poster and samples of concrete pavers, a product of his own company “Anchor, concrete products”. Eric Miller, another senior CIM senior student, showed a small tabletop display of water going through a pervious concrete sample that he put together. Mike Ciallella, another senior CIM senior student, put together a poster showing pictures of NJIT-ACI Student Chapter team participated in the ACI student Competition that took place at the ACI conference in Pittsburgh, October 24.(NJIT ranked 6th among 25 teams from all over the world). At the end, Mr. Casimir J. Bognacki, Chief of Materials Engineering at Port Authority of NY & NJ gave a great presentation titled “ Lessons Learned About High Strength Concrete in Rebuilding the world Trade Center”. The event was attended by the Dean of Newark College of Engineering, Dr. Sunil Saigal, and the chair person of the Northeast Patrons, Jamie Gentoso.
