Yesterday, Wednesday, March 9, was the perfect time to get involved with the concrete industry’s Strategic Development Council of the American Concrete Institute, ACI. This group of industry leaders is guiding the way to unite concrete developers, producers, and customers to facilitate the advancement of concrete technology in a way that results in improved industry efficiency and quality that benefits all in the industry.
SDC provides a first-of-its-kind forum for the leaders in the concrete industry, government, academia, and customers to discuss the key issues and challenges that impact the concrete industry. The organization then develops the initiatives and framework by recognizing industry critical technologies, identifying barriers to technology acceptance and implementation, and acting as a catalyst to remove those barriers. The event took place in the wonderful Queen's Landing Inn and Conference Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
The conference was attended by Mike Schneider, the Chairman of CIM National Steering Committee and Baker Concrete Vice President, and Julie Garbini, the Chairwoman of CIM Research Committee. Julie had a presentation as the Executive Director at Ready Mix Concrete Research & Education Foundation. The CIM academia was presented by Dr. Mohamed Mahgoub, the CIM program Director at NJIT.
