CIM Students Attend ACI

On Tuesday, April 5, I have attended the third day of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Spring Convention which was held at Marriott Tampa Waterside Hotel & Marina and Westin Harbor Island, in Tampa, FL. The Convention came to an end Thursday afternoon and drew over 1600 attendees and guests, including over 300 students. The main highlights of the day were:

(1) Visit Separation Technologies ProAsh plant in Tampa. Separation Technologies, LLC provides environmentally and financially sustainable solutions with the most advanced proprietary technology in the world. Separation Technologies delivers commercially proven, flexible, least-risk technology for processing coal fly ash without the considerable cost of added combustion. Their proprietary electrostatic separation system offers a cleaner, emission-and chemical-free solution for 100% fly ash management. The utility benefits from better combustion, elimination of landfills and lower fuel costs. I would like to thank Tiffany Duffy, the Florida Sales Manager; Jorge Tercero, the Technical Service Engineer for allowing me this opportunity; and Rudy Wiechert III, the Operations Manager for the wonderful tour.

(2) Attend some committee meetings

(3) Attend the Faculty Network Reception

(4) Attend the Concrete Mixer at Florida Aquarium
