Stained concrete
and decorative saw cuts helped convert an under-utilized outdoor space into a
therapeutic garden for the residents of Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans
Center. The final project included cleaning and staining approximately
5,000-square-feet of existing concrete, sawcutting and staining a compass rose
emblem depicting military and patriotic icons, and sawcutting and staining a
large checkerboard.
The project was
managed by Todd Scharich, decorative concrete specialist for the ASCC and
included volunteer students Wyatt Brandt, Ryan Jessie and Mary Michael Jett, all
from the CIM program at Middle Tennessee State University. To read more about
