MTSU CIM Students Named as Finalists in WOC Crews That Rock Contest

The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program is pleased to announce that a crew from the CIM program at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is a finalist in the 2014 Crews That Rock competition sponsored by BASF. "Crews That Rock" to Honor Industry Members at 2013 World of Concrete

Concrete construction and masonry crew members won’t have to wait long for bragging rights when it comes their outstanding projects from this year. World of Concrete 2013 will once again present the CREWS THAT ROCK competition, sponsored by BASF, to honor crew members for their teamwork and contribution to the industry. The top winners will receive a trip to WOC 2013 in addition to widespread industry recognition.

Since crews have always been a huge part of World of Concrete every year, WOC wants to show the world the incredible accomplishments of the commercial construction/masonry industry crews. Following the hugely popular and successful CREWS THAT ROCK contest during WOC 2012, the 2013 competition will once again provide a forum for these hardworking crews to share their stories and photos of projects from 2012.

Crews will submit their stories online at www.crewsthatrock.com along with images capturing projects completed between January 1, 2012 through November 30, 2012. Projects will be based on two categories, Community Service/Not-for-Profit and Commercial/For-Profit, and all submissions must be received by November 30, 2012. Two Grand Prize Awards will be given in each of the categories – Audience Award via online voting and Experts’ Choice selected by a panel of industry professionals.

The Grand Prize Winner in each category will receive the following:

-- Up to $1,500 airline credit to fly the crew to WOC 2013.

-- Each winning crew receives three complimentary rooms in an official WOC hotel during WOC 2013 for the crew (based on double occupancy – maximum of 6 individuals; 9 nights total).

-- Two free seminars per person (90-minute or 3-hour).

-- A bag of FREE WOC “swag” from WOC Show Management & BASF.

Also, all four winning projects will be honored at WOC 2013 on Wednesday, February 6, 2012 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Press Conference Room N251. Winners will meet members of the CTR’s exclusive sponsor BASF, and WOC Show Management, along with members of the industry press.

"BASF is proud to be a part of the CREWS THAT ROCK program again this year at World of Concrete 2013. BASF is excited to be a part of a project to recognize crews and let them know they are appreciated. Crews that Rock is such a unique way for crews to be recognized by their peers and reward them for their dedication to improving the communities in which we live,” said Jan Aument, Buiding Sysytems, BASF.

“Last year, we receive more than 45 incredible entries for the CREWS THAT ROCK competition, and we expect many more this year. We are excited to offer this contest again in 2013. We believe that CREWS THAT ROCK will provide an outlet to show the world how vital crews are to the commercial concrete and masonry industries,” said Steven Pomerantz, Senior Marketing Manager, World of Concrete.
