NJIT Attends ICRI Metro NY Chapter Meeting

On Wednesday April 4^th , NJIT traveled to the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Metro NY Chapter dinner meeting in Manhattan, NY. Three CIM students, Anlee Orama, Mohamed Mohamed, Yazan Eljabiri, and Fabian De la Hoz. The speaker of the evening, Guy Long, Prosoco  R-GUARD Air & Water Resistive Barrier Systems, presented a topic on “Flashings : Past, Present, & Future”. The students readily began networking and meeting leaders in the concrete repair industry. Thanks to Elena Danke, President of ICRI Metro NY Chapter, for having us as guests once again.

CIM Students Attend ICRI Conference in Houston

Today was one of the long days at International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Conference for all CIM students. Starting at 8 am ending at around 9pm, CIM students have enjoyed networking, attending technical sessions, and helping setting up and attending the Prestigious ICRI Recognition Luncheon. At the end of the day, the CIM students have attended the Houston/North Texas Chapter Reception.

The strong presence of CIM students of NJIT, MTSU, Texas State and California State was felt everywhere and people were acknowledging them specially the ICRI president, Mr. Don Ford. He said in the Recognition Luncheon speech “CIM students are always welcomed to ICRI conventions”. He asked the students to stand up and asked the attendees to give them a big round of applauds. People were happy to see CIM students around and share business cards with them. I have been contacted by many companies to offer the CIM students jobs and internships. We kept having a great welcome from everybody in the conference. I would like to thank Tanya Komas, the CIM program director at California State and the member of ICRI Board of Directors for allowing us to have this great opportunity. I would like also to acknowledge the attendance of Jiong Hu, a CIM faculty from Texas State. I would like also to acknowledge the attendance of Alex Somohano (ICRI Metro NY Chapter President) and Elena Danke (ICRI Metro NY Chapter Vice President). ICRI Metro NY Chapter has always been a great support to NJIT-CIM students.

NJIT Students Attend ICRI Event

Tonight, Wednesday February 2, CIM Students have attended the ICRI Metro NY Chapter’s Dinner in Manhattan, NY and received their scholarship awards. ICRI Metro NY was pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 scholarships:

ICRI Metro NY Chapter was very excited to be able to offer CIM students this scholarship and was looking forward to becoming more involved with the CIM program at NJIT. CIM students have also attended a presentation titled “Preservation of Historic Concrete Structures in the United Kingdom: Lessons From Over The Pond” which was presented by John Fidler, Staff Consultant with Simson Gumpertz & Heger.

I would like to thank the president of ICRI Metro NY Chapter, Alex Somohano who was so happy to see our students and he invited them to be student members in ICRI Metro NY Chapter. I would like also to thank Elena Danke who is always doing her best to help CIM students and program.

CIM Students Attend ACI and ICRI Conferences in Pittsburgh

CIM students and faculty attended the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) conferences during October in Pittsburgh, Pa.

During the ACI Conference, the students competed along with 25 other teams from all over the United States in the Student Egg Protection Device Competition and finished in sixth place overall! The students also attended the ACI Concrete Sustainability Forum and enjoyed listening to presentations about the latest concrete sustainability measurements in China, India, Korea, and Brazil. One of the presentations was the MIT joint research with NRCMA and PCA of Life Cycle Assessment of Pavements which provided the students with useful information regarding concrete sustainability.

During the ICRI conference the students attending technical presentations about bridge concrete repair and how to overcome reinforcement corrosion problems. The students enjoyed networking, attending technical sessions, and attending the awards banquet. The CIM students presence was acknowledged by the ICRI President, Chuck Knight.
