ASU Student Works On Creating "Rock Podium"

When the ASU-CIM program became involved in the concrete bench project, the Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA) asked for our assistance with another 'slightly' relatedAZ podium projectproject. Arizona Senator John Nelson, a rock buff, came into possession of a rock that he had retrieved from the ocean floor. He asked the Director of ARPA to build a podium/support to mount this rock on and include a plaque to tell the rock's story. This past summer, the CIM program placed an intern in the ARPA office to learn how the industry works in the political arena. This student was older with significant concrete experience and was quickly put to work to create this support for the rock. This student engaged the support of an architectural precaster that he met in CIM 105. Together they enlisted the support of a local artist to help the podium tell the rock's story.
